Charity contributions

We encourage our employees to make a positive contribution to society by offering them four half-days paid time off each calendar year to volunteer for their chosen charitable initiative.

On top of that, everyone can claim £1 from the business for £1 they raise for registered charities of their choice, up to a maximum of £1,000 a year per employee. We also choose an official company Charity of the Year each year.

The Wellspring charity

Each charity year runs from March to March.

2022-23

For our new financial year, we welcomed our new and exciting charity partner, The Wellspring.

The Wellspring supports the people of Stockport who are homeless or at risk of losing their home. They provide the resources, understanding, and care that their users need inside the community that we all share. Professional staff and dedicated volunteers at The Wellspring are there to understand the complex and individual challenges of every service user and help them make positive changes to their lives.

The current strategy of the charity is built around the lives of people they help every day. This means responding to a combination of issues surrounding housing, physical & mental health, domestic violence, substance misuse, debt, unemployment, illiteracy, and social exclusion. It is often simple pieces of advice and support, interventions at the right time, giving professional guidance, and most of all positive engagement that can make a difference. The charity provides educational courses, computer courses, art classes, and other activities such as football, walking groups and gardening courses. Alongside this, they provide health services, including a drop-in service from a GP, and referrals to other specialist support services. The Wellspring offers the hope that things can, and do, change.

The Wellspring is local to our Stockport office, and we are looking forward to getting involved, volunteering, raising vital funds and raising awareness of the incredible work they do and their impact on the local community.

2021-22

In 2021 our employees chose Dementia UK as Charity of the Year.

Following a number of presentations from across the company, our employees voted to chose Dementia UK as Charity of the Year, for 2021-22, as it resonates closely with many of us here at Industrials REIT.

Our first big charity fundraiser was a 50/50 Challenge, where each of the employees were put into teams of two for the month of June where they raised money for their chosen challenges as a pair. Other fundraising events so far have included employees taking part in the JLL Triathlon and cake baking. The money we raise will go towards helping to fund dementia specialist Admiral Nurses.

2020-21

We contributed to raise £21,000 in total for Brain Tumour Research. Despite the pandemic having a huge impact on life, we got our thinking caps on to consider different ways we could raise money.

Events included Clocktober to celebrate our 75th industrial estate. We encouraged each employee to cover 75 miles by running, walking, or cycling during October. And in February, we joined the charity in their 10,000 Steps a Day challenge. The money we raised will sponsor the equivalent of seven days of vital research at one of the charity’s UK Centres of Excellence, covering scientists' salaries as well as research materials and consumables used each day.

2019-20

We raised a fantastic £27,000 for our chosen charity Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
